The Venture Bros. Cancelled - What in The hell?

On September 7th, 2020 The Venture Brothers' Creator Jackson Publick tweeted the devastating news, that after 17 Years, 7 Seasons, 82 episodes and 4 Specials, The Venture Bros. has been cancelled by Adult Swim.

 Now this comes a shocking news. Especially because Doc Hammer and Jackson Publick were in the process of writing the 8th Season, when they learned they wouldn't be coming back l. This understandably leaves a lot of fans disappointed, including myself.

Given that Season Seven ended on a freaking Cliffhanger.

I for one do not understand this move, at all. Venture Bros. is an iconic series. It's so smart and it comes across as an effortless homage to countless classic cartoons films, TV shows and Comics. It's a master class in World building and it was just truly an Important piece of cartoon history. 

Adult Swim supported the show for 17 years. They even gave the team the freedom to take as long as two to three years between each season. That's why this move is just so baffling. Why wouldn't they let a series, that's been around since the early days of Adult Swim, have the opportunity to end the story on its own terms.

Cliffhanger of Season 7

At the very least, it should be given a final round of episodes or  a special to wrap up the story.  The fact that the show ended on a cliffhanger is a slap in the face to its creators and its fans.

A series that defined new genres and world that took 17 years to build and age. They cooked it in layers and too. Essentially creating weird Niche adult-oriented comedy programming. 

Without Venture Bros. You wouldn't have so many of the shows that you love and enjoy today. Including Bojack Horseman, Rick & Morty, Aqua Teen Hunger Force and many more that have continued to make Adult Swim successful.

Wrapping our heads around this decision is hard, especially with a service like HBO Max at Cartoon Network in Adult Swim's fingertips with shows like Infinity Train moving over the streaming servic. And nearly the entire Adult Swim Library available on HBO Max, moving the series to that service feels like an absolute no-brainer. 

Or at the very least give it a series finale special or run a final episodes to conclude the story. This news just seriously bums me out really hard and I think that if any show deserves to be given a proper conclusion, it's The Venture Bros.
